Well, today is the big day to get out on the road with my bike.
On my morning walk it was chilly, but not cold. This winter has been colder than the last couple years and I’m sure it’s because of the rain we finally received. The fog was burning off, so should be sunny and mild by the time I get out later this morning.
Now the annual question comes ‘can I still ride a bike?’ after winter. It’s a rhetorical question, but this year I have one less major organ accompanying me and additional belly fat that I’ve never had before. Fortunately, it will be a flat ride so I don’t need to think about weight distribution (how to shift weight on the bike) descending and cornering!
Today the thoughts will be: do I have my sunglasses out (yes), did I put air in my tires, did I change my spindle for the road (keeps the tire on the bike), did I charge my lights, did I remember my water bottles and what clothes should I wear? Oh, I forgot, can I still fit in them??
On the ride it will be: How does everything feel? Can I breathe consistently (probably not)? How strong are my legs (they will likely test my lungs for strength)? Am I riding too far? Not far enough (don’t think so)?
Questions, Questions….tune in tomorrow to see how it went.
