The sun is back out this morning and I hope it’s here for most of the day. It will be nice to see dry pavement again.
I had a good nights sleep and expect more recovery today. Tuesday surgery is scheduled and will have to go to a liquid diet Monday. Guess it’s one way to drop some weight, although I would much rather get out on the bike and breath outdoor air. It’s amazing to me to think I would blow through 1500 calories in a couple hours on the bike. The power you feel on a bike is so invigorating! Just two years ago this month I rode to the top of some local (steep) hills looking over the dry landscape, not believing I was up there in January. Today it’s likely covered with leaves and water from all the rain. Colder too.
My gratitude walk with be around the block this morning, but I can say the sun is already helping me feel stronger. Amazing how powerful it is. I’m happy I’m alive and here for another day.
A couple evenings ago I was in San Francisco for a casual meeting of local Purdue alumni invited to meet with University President Daniels. It was so inspiring to hear of the changes he is making to keep education at a top STEM university affordable and accessible. The last couple years I have been working with the new Polytechnic Institute at Purdue to help them engage young women and promote entrepreneurship. I need to continue to focus on things I am trying to change for young women entering the workplace and not allow the thoughts about what happens to me if I actually have cancer.
Okay, now it’s time for that gratitude walk!!
