I’m back in my chair writing again with the computer propped away from my very sore belly…

I went to the hospital early Tuesday for surgery and you heard things went well. In fact, I received a voice mail from the surgeon (missed him at the hospital yesterday before I left for home) and in his words, “surgery went great”, will talk about the pathology report at our post op visit, but “not expecting anything serious.”

I’ll take a minute to say this is a gynecological oncologist who left the voice mail, so I think I can be excited about the prospects of a full recovery and no serious issues. I did ask him how you become a cancer specialist of the female organs. He chuckled and indicated he’d delivered enough babies at all hours, enjoyed surgery and liked having a significant positive impact on people’s lives. Well, personally I couldn’t agree more, selfish as I am!!

I wanted to share with you while I was in the hospital Tuesday evening I had lots of memories from my years in Greeley that made me feel safe and comfortable. Lu your smile and laugh walking down the hall at Heath; Perry, kicking the stones home from elementary school; Jody, your smile and laugh at West; Michelle, our first semester away from home. I’m sure your wondering how all those memories could have shown up for me, but I guess it shows how all the little things you do or don’t do really do make an impact. At the time I had no idea what was happening or had happened, but I remember nestling into the warm bed and drifting off to sleep, a well drugged one I’m sure now, but a warm, safe sleep none the less.

Today I am home, but have a new body. It feels like I have a tummy out to my knees and I want to have nothing around my waist. The fleece PJs I picked up a couple years ago for $5 are the BEST! Warm and fuzzy, but don’t sit on my glued holes. I have 5 ringing my waist and no stitches, but lots of glue. It almost feels like I’m a messy grade school project!!

Today, I’m very happy to be a fill in for a craft project.
