Today on my morning walk I didn’t get going as early as I wanted and the rain was supposed to start up again. If I didn’t get out of bed quickly I would be walking in the rain once more and I would be dealing with morning traffic.
I forced myself up as quickly as I could these days and got out the door with the dog. The sky was spitting, but it wasn’t pouring and a quick read said to just go and get wet, after all it wouldn’t be the first time this year.
As I got a couple blocks into the walk I began to feel a bit like my old self. I felt stronger, not so bloated (I’ve been carrying around an inner tube tummy) and a surprisingly quick step. The rest of the walk felt good, but I didn’t set any land speed records, just missed the next downpour.
This comes after my first ride on the bike this weekend. I rode for a short 30 minutes, constantly checking on various body parts. How did it feel sitting on the saddle? Could I go a full hour (No)? How was my balance, off center? Would I fall off? Fortunately it was a solid, safe ride, but I could feel its impact today.
I know the feeling of getting stronger today was the result of that short 30 minute ride. Today I’ll get back on the bike for another 30 minute ride. Now that’s a power workout!
