Be Kind, Choose Love, Count Your Blessings
While out for a bike ride this weekend I was struck by the beauty of our country. Where I live, we have rolling hills, beautiful trees, flowing streams, and of course amazing people.
In this short post, we’d like to help you take a moment and think about all the good things in your life.
Sure, there are things in your life and in the world that you don’t consider good, but that is not what we want to focus on at least for a few minutes.
As a little thought exercise, imagine you have two buckets. In one bucket throw in all the not-good things. Just toss them in. You don’t have to list them all, just imagine all of them in the ‘bad’ bucket.
For the other bucket, fill it up with all the wonderful things in the world and in your life. Include the little things like how vibrant flowers look in the morning, or the way someone smiles back at you when you smile at them.
When you stand back and look at your two buckets, you might find that the ‘good’ bucket is overflowing, while the ‘bad’ bucket is not as full, but the items in there seem heavier. You probably have more of an emotional charge with the items in the ‘bad’ bucket.
All that emotional charge is from you.
For today, or maybe just for the next few minutes, you get to choose which bucket to pay more attention to.
All the good stuff and bad stuff in your life and in the world will still be there with or without your attention. You might as well focus on what you want.
You Can Choose.
Enjoy Independence Day!!!!
