Yesterday I went for my fifth ride in two weeks and each one included a hill of some kind. As I left to meet another rider, I felt like something was missing. I start to run though a checklist: air in tires, check; gloves, check; water in my water bottles, check; helmet and sunglasses, check; Something still feels different, but I’m confused. I don’t have all my cool weather riding gear, but something is off in how I feel on the bike.

I’m not hurting, but I’m clearly not feeling as I usually do when I start off on a ride. Everything is getting warmed up, but this is something I haven’t noticed before. A couple miles later, I realized I’ve removed my pillow from around my waist! I’m back to my regular weight! Suddenly I understand why I feel so different. I don’t have to bend over extra tummy weight as I’m holding the handlebars. Now as I ride, particularly down hills, I’m back to understanding how I can move with the bike much more smoothly and confidently.

Yes! It has been a good couple weeks watching my diet and exercising to get to this point!.
